Star Wars: The Force Awakens Luke Skywalker Fan Theory
So, what is my theory for the new Star Wars? Well, I predict that:
Luke Skywalker is EVIL!
Explanation
Now I know that many of you are going to say that I'm crazy, that Luke could never turn evil, that he is the epitomy of good and if he turned bad, it would ruin all that he stood for in Return of the Jedi. Now, I respect all of those arguments, but there is plenty of proof to explain why he would go bad.
First, he's the last of his kind! He is the last jedi, Yoda is dead, Obi-Wan is dead, and Luke himself isn't a fully trained jedi. He knows enough to get by, but does he know enough to teach anyone? Not really. The only other possibly force sensitive being known of is his sister Leia, who hasn't displayed an aptitude for the force, nor can Luke truly teach her. Being the last of your kind could truly mess with your head, leading to Luke's eventual turning to the dark side.
Secondly, almost all of his family and friends are dead! I don't think the original trilogy took more than three years, and it probably took less. Over this time, he lost:
The uncle and aunt who had adopted and raised him
The mentor that he knew for most of his life.
A second mentor who he really cared for
And his best friends in a series of space battles
And let's not forget that he also learned that his father was one of the ultimate forms of evil, cut off his hand, and later turned good and sacrificed himself for his son. So, in the course of three years or less, Luke lost his adopted parents, his friends, two mentors, and had to watch his father's death and know that no one would ever believe that his father, Darth Vader, a Sith Lord, turned good in the last seconds of his life. At least some of that has to scar a person deeply.
Third, he fought in a freaking war! The combination of losing all these people who were important in his life and fighting a war probably gave him some form of PTSD. We know that Force Awakens takes place 30 years after the Battle of Endor, meaning that Luke's PTSD has had 30 years to run rampant, morphing him into a darker version of himself. Now you might ask why no one else would be effected this way. Very simple, of the main characters left alive at the end of Return of the Jedi:
Leia, while suffering many of the same tragedies as Luke, never sees Darth Vader turn good and has Han to comfort her and ground her, since it seems that they are probably going to get married at the end of the movie. Luke has no one that intimate to comfort him, therefore, his PTSD runs much more rampant since there is nothing grounding him to the light side.
Han is a smuggler, someone who has been around, seen danger, been in fights throughout his life, and has probably lost friends in his time as a smuggler, so he's had a lifetime to get used to the horrors of war, plus he has Leia. Luke, as a young idyllic farmboy, hasn't seen anything like this before, so he has no defenses to it, letting the horrors ravage his mind.
Chewbacca is a wookiee, and I have no way to know anything about wookiee psychology. Plus, he's fought in the Clone Wars before the Rebellion and he has one of the best bromances ever, so he has a grounding force.
Lando is almost in the same boat as Han, so I don't need to go into his situation.
R2-D2 and C-3PO are both droids and I don't think they can get PTSD
There are really no other main characters left at the end of Return of the Jedi so Luke would be the only one seriously effected, which would be a big reason for his slowly breaking off from his friends. As he got worse and no one else did, he starts to think that something is wrong with him and he gets even worse, until he goes into self-imposed exile, leading to him studying and teaching himself the dark side of the force.
Why this makes sense in real life
Besides all the evidence in the Star Wars universe, there is one main reason in the real world to have Luke be part of the dark side. Mark Hamill plays a great villain! He has done plenty of voicework over the years but arguably his best and most recognizable role outside of Star Wars is voicing the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series and in the Arkham video games.

Mark Hamill plays a great crazy guy, and has said that he wouldn't mind playing an evil Luke, which would be awesome to see as the ultimate bad guy in the new movie. Instead of someone who is ultra serious and knows exactly what he's doing, like Emperor Palpatine, instead we have a sith lord who is smart, insane, and unpredictable. He has a grand plan but doesn't care how he gets there.
Final Explanation

Luke Skywalker, after 15 years of PTSD, has slowly moved away from the Rebellion and has a hermit, growing crazier, teaching himself the dark side of the force. He decides that the galaxy needs a ruling hand to keep it in line and decides to become this ruling hand. He uses his power to take control of the rebuilding New Order, but behind the scenes. Few realize that the New Order is under new management, and even fewer know who is actually in charge. Using his power, he accelerates the growth of the New Order and takes the name Snoke, to throw off anyone from his past life. He becomes very Palpatine or Arkham City Joker like, hiding in the background, very few know the truth about him, and he operates through middlemen, like Kylo Ren.

So no, Luke Skywalker isn't Kylo Ren, but he is, instead, the man controlling and teaching Ren. He uses the New Order to create his morphed form of galactic peace. I think this is the reason that Luke hasn't been in any of the trailers, because he is the main behind the scenes antagonist and the big reveal at the end of Force Awakens will be the reveal of Luke as the one behind the New Order and the rest of the trilogy will be about his former friends trying to convince Luke to come back to the light side.
